My One Little Word for 2022: Pause

Pause seems like such an innocuous word. But I contend it has great power when we: Pause to be grateful Pause to reflect Pause to forgive Pause to listen Pause to enjoy Pause before answering Pause before reacting Pause to appreciate Pause to breathe In 2022 I hope my One Little Word will be powerful. Not in physical strength, not in intellectual prowess, not in a domineering or superior kind of way. Quite the opposite. I hope it will help me become more humble, grow in compassion, appreciate what is before me. I guess it’s another way of being in Read More

Cinderella Meets Marie Kondo, and I Get to Go Shoe Shopping

I recently discovered that my foot has grown a full size. I’ve decided to blame it in the pandemic since that’s not all that has increased in size, if you get my drift. I’m reflecting on some positive aspects of 2020 that I can be grateful for, and I’ve actually found some. Especially some new skill sets. Zoom I fumbled my way through learning how to Zoom (like Google, it’s become both a noun and a verb- the opposite Read More

Are You an Instant Pot or a Whirly-gig?

Update How are you faring in the 6th? 7th? month of the pandemic. The other day I described myself as an InstantPot. I feel the pressure building up within, the pressure of not being with my kids and hugging them, the pressure of wondering when this will end, the pressure of such hatred and division in our country. How do I release this pressure? I’m staying home and am desperate for a haircut. Since March 15, I’ve been in a bank once for a notary, I’ve been to my daughter Kate’s house—outside—twice, I’ve met outside with five other women for Read More
